Somatics, Sensory Integration
We are at constant interplay within ourselves and our surroundings. When in a balanced state we feel at one, we feel at ease, we feel in a flow. We feel safe.
Pressures and expectations of modern living place us under a tremendous pressures and this can result in us feeling off balance, dis-regulated. Furthermore, trauma and violation (including surgeries, vaccinations and other procedures), sudden or unexpected changes in our lives, extremes of the weather and the solar system, intensity and speed of information, demand to respond, real as well as perceived violence around us, sleep disturbances, many food sand other substances contribute to this in/balance.
Our nervous system expresses this through fight, flight, freeze, or fawn (people-pleasing) responses. Ineffective or delayed adaptation can significantly influence how we perceive ourselves, relate to others, interpret the world around us, and action we take. This may manifest in:
breathing patterns
energy levels
impulses that can lead to angry outbursts and addiction
concentration
experience of pain
our relationship with eating and food
emotional development
academic learning
body image
confidence
function and productivity - ability to do things as desired, planned
releasing trauma, including ancestral inheritance
impulses that can lead to rage, addiction and destructive behaviours
identity
The following are approaches that we will interweave into our work together to help you to help you with any of the above challenges:
Somatics focuses on the internal, cellular, perception of the body. It helps us to reconnect with our physical selves, fostering a deeper understanding of how emotions take up place in our body and open the possibility for movement within this. Somatic awareness plays a crucial role in enhancing our sense of self beyond our headspace. It aids physical and emotional trauma healing. I find it in my practice that it is at this level that people make most profound connection to themselves and which, with my guidance, leads to most profound freedom. I incorporate this work with homeopathic sensation enquiry.
Sensory integration delves into how our brains process and respond to sensory information around us. By identifying and addressing sensory challenges, we can improve our ability to engage with the world around us with greater ease and effectivity. This integration is vital for developing essential life skills, emotional regulation, and social interactions. Sensory stimuli may be of a particular challenge to those who are on ASD, have ADHD, and as such it plays an important part in my work.
Retained Primal Reflexes are movement patterns from the brain's early development stage crucial for survival in the first year. These involuntary movements form in utero and integrate into normal patterns within the first three years, marking the shift from survival to higher brain function. Factors like traumatic birth, c-section, forceps delivery, head injuries, neurological diseases, falls, and limited tummy time, re-traumatisation can lead to retained primal reflexes. Simple exercises and neuroplasticity can help integrate these reflexes and normalise movement at any life stage and where this an issue I will show you appropriate exercises to adjust this.
Language is a bridge to how our experiences and perceptions and how these ‘settle’ within our Being. You will be supported to distinguish between helpful and unhelpful language and thus have greater choice how to communicate and what life story you craft.
Sensation Homeopathy
How we experience something is reflected in the nature and as a homeopath I will be able to help you understand and recommend appropriate remedies. I will do so awareness twofold:
a) by recommending corresponding remedy and
b) teach you somatic movement individual to their you and move away from places stuckness, unhelpful patterns to flow, balance and health.
Working with the body is an essential part of my work. It allows us to meet and work with the richness of our internal landscape. It helps us explore, understand and navigate the physical and sensory experiences and is the groundwork for deeper connections with ourselves and others and our physical environment.
These techniques and remedies will contribute towards releasing your trauma, foster greater self-awareness and choice and improve your overall experience of being and provide greater choice how you express this through your creativity and work.
